Marriage

I would like to be married here.

In order to adequately prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage, six months notice and a Preparation Marriage program are needed. For more information about this please contact our parish office 882-2622.

What is the Sacrament of Marriage?

The Sacrament of Marriage unites the man and the woman in a bond “which by its very nature is perpetual and exlusive” (CCC 1638). Once this bond is created, it can never be dissolved (Cf. CCC 1639).

Natural Family Planning

In our time it is good that we are concerned about responsible parenthood. However in our concern to live responsible parenthood, we have sometimes fallen into practices that are (for various reasons) not permissable among Christians. One such practice it the use of artificial contraception to prevent or delay pregnancy. However, the Church does realize that at times a couple may need to delay pregnancy. Humanae Vitae teaches: With regard to physical, economic, psychological and social conditions, responsible parenthood is exercised by those who prudently and generously decide to have more children, and by those who, for serious reasons and with due respect to moral precepts, decide not to have additional children for either a certain or an indefinite period of time (Humanae Vitae, 10) In any decision to delay pregnancy for a certain or an indefinite period of time, the couple must keep “a right order of priorities, recognize their own duties toward God, themselves, their families and human society” and therefore, “are not free to act as they choose in the service of transmitting life, as if it were wholly up to them to decide what is the right course to follow. On the contrary, they are bound to ensure that what they do corresponds to the will of God the Creator” (Humanae Vitae 10). After serious consideration, should the couple decide it is best to delay pregnancy, the couple should engage in Natural Family Planning which respect the laws God built into nature and not resort to immoral methods of birth control which seek to oppose these laws. There are many misconceptions about Natural Family Planning around so we encourage all couples to find out more about it.
